Tensile

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 17, 2026  ·  Operated by Ujjwal Agrawal ("Tensile", "we", "us").

The short version. With your permission, Tensile reads your data from Apple Health and syncs it, encrypted, to your private Tensile account so your dashboards and coach are ready the moment you open the app. It is used to provide Tensile's features and for nothing else. We never sell your data or use it for advertising, and deleting your account deletes the data with it.

Two specifics worth knowing up front. The AI Coach is off until you switch it on, and until you do, nothing from your health data is sent to an AI provider. And our analytics never contain a single health value: not your heart rate, not your sleep, not one workout.

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers the Tensile mobile app and this website (including the pre-launch waitlist). By using Tensile you agree to the handling of information described here.

2. Data we process, and where it lives

Health & fitness data (from Apple Health / HealthKit)

With your permission, Tensile reads data such as workouts, heart rate, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, steps, energy, and related metrics from Apple Health. You approve exactly what Tensile can read when you sign up. This data is synced over an encrypted connection to your private Tensile account on our servers, where it is used to compute your dashboards and to give the AI Coach the context it needs to answer you. Access is restricted to your account alone (row-level security), and it is used only to provide the features you see.

When you use the AI Coach, the relevant portion of your data is also processed by our AI provider so it can generate a personalised response, under terms that do not permit training on your data. Deleting your account deletes your synced health data with it.

Account data

If you create an account, we process your email address and authentication details. Accounts and authentication are handled by our infrastructure provider, Supabase, on our behalf.

Waitlist (pre-launch)

If you join the waitlist on this website, we store your email address solely to notify you about the launch. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

Diagnostic & usage data

We collect limited technical information to keep the app working and improve it: crash reports, and behavioural usage events such as which screens you open and whether a step succeeded or failed. We never include your health values in any of it. No heart rate, no HRV, no sleep duration, no workout detail. Events carry counts, yes/no flags and short fixed labels only, and this is enforced in the app's code rather than left to review.

Two things we would rather state plainly than let you assume. Once you sign in, usage events are linked to your account rather than being anonymous. And our analytics provider derives an approximate location (city level) from your IP address, so we know roughly where our users are without ever asking you.

You can turn usage analytics off in the app under Settings, Privacy. Crash reporting is separate and carries no health data at any time.

3. How we use your information

4. AI processing & third parties

The AI Coach is off until you turn it on. It is not enabled by default. Until you give explicit permission, nothing derived from your health data is sent to an AI provider at all. You can withdraw that permission at any time in the app under Settings, Privacy.

Once you do enable it, the data needed to answer you is processed by our AI provider, currently Google (Gemini), under terms that do not permit your data to be used to train their models. If we add or change providers we will update this policy and the "last updated" date above.

The other companies that process data on our behalf, and what each one sees:

Each processes data only to provide that service to us, not for its own purposes.

Separately, the app fetches its configuration (feature switches and safety limits) from PostHog even if you have turned usage analytics off. This is deliberate: a switch that cannot reach the people who opted out of analytics is not a safety switch. When analytics is off, that request uses a throwaway identifier that changes every session and is never joined to you or to your device.

5. What we never do

6. Storage, security & location

Data we store is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted per user at the database level (row-level security), so one user's data is never accessible to another.

Where it physically sits, precisely, because "the cloud" is not an answer:

By using Tensile you understand your information is processed in these places, which may be outside the country you live in. As we grow we intend to offer regional storage, including in the EU.

7. Retention & deletion

We keep account and any server-stored data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete your data at any time from within the app, or by contacting us at uagrawal3012@gmail.com; we will delete it within a reasonable period, subject to any legal retention obligations.

In the app, the control is under Profile, Delete account. It removes your account, your synced health data and your coach conversations immediately and permanently, and it clears what the app has stored on your phone. It cannot be undone. Usage analytics and crash reports are not covered by it: they hold no health values, and once your account is gone the identifier on them no longer refers to anyone. If you want those removed as well, email us and we will do it.

8. Your rights

If you're in the EU/EEA/UK (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, and port your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Our lawful basis is your consent and the performance of our contract with you. Sensitive health data is processed only on the basis of your explicit consent.

If you're in California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of sale, and we do not sell your data. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

To exercise any right, contact uagrawal3012@gmail.com.

9. Apple Health data

Tensile's use of information received from Apple Health APIs adheres to Apple's requirements: such data is not used for advertising or marketing, is not shared with third parties for those purposes, and is not sold. Health data is used only to provide the features you use.

10. Children

Tensile is not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; we'll revise the "last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
